Penny Princess's New Budget

Looking at our budget, we recently realized that we were not doing a good job of being a penny pinching family, and we really needed to make a change.  We have started using Dave Ramsey's envelope system and paying for everything in cash.

One big place where we've had to really pay attention is in food. We used to spend $150 a week at the grocery store for just two of us. Even then, we would also eat out several times a week. It all added up to us spending wayyyy too much money on food!

Well, now that we are working on our budget and spending, we cannot do either of those things. We budget for one, maybe two times of eating out a month because, let's be honest, things happen. And if we don't use that money in a given month, it's added to our date night find!  And our food budget: $50 a week, plus $50 extra a month to buy meat.

We cannot afford to eat processed food on that budget, so we are eating pretty much all fresh food.  This gives us the added health benefit of eating healthier.

I am not a couponer or super deal hunter or any of those things, so we are doing this only using regular sales and regular store prices.

99% of our shopping is done at Aldi, which has great prices to begin with, so that helps a lot, but we also work hard to stay on budget.

We can't be the only ones in this predicent, so I will be posting all of our grocery trips and meal plans to show how others can do it too! We find most of our recipes on Pinterest, so I'll link when I can!

I hope I can inspire some of you to cut down your grocery budget as well!
