One of the main things I wanted to do (other than decorations on the walls) was to make my table look a bit nicer.
This is the table before
Now its not a bad table. I actually really like it, but it didn't fit into the theme of the room, so I wanted to make a table cloth! I say make because apparently black tablecloths don't exist for less than $50 and I wasn't about to spend anywhere near that much on a tablecloth. Luckily, I found some old black fabric in one of my boxes and it was the perfect size! It just needed a hem.
And iron and lint roller....
Much better!
So I gave it a hem
Jubilee wanted to help...
It's hard to see but it looks super professional =)
(And remember, I taught myself to sew just a few months ago!)
Then, I took my table runner fabric (from the scraps bin at Jo-Anns) and gave that a hem too! (I know, a table runner? Super fancy!)
All pinned!
Here you can see that professional hem =)
Then I put them on the table with the cloth napkins I found at walmart for $1! (I will be making more later)
How pretty!!
Also, look at the 4 canvases on the wall, they are the next post!
And just so you can see all the decorations:
The dining room got all the Aggie decor because it matched!
I love this poster!
My barstool!!! Yayyy!!!
(I'm considering spray painting the legs black because
I didn't end up with any other brown in the dining room,
but that won't happen for a while)
And the whole thing:
So, what do you think? Will you be making your own tablecloth? Are table runners just the coolest things or what?
Hmm, that poster looks familiar. The fabric definitely looks more white than black in your first 2 pictures. Anyway, it looks great! Wish I could come visit!
ReplyDeleteYea, the flash made it really light but I just wanted to show how much better it looked after ironing! Maybe my senior year you can come visit! Mom and Dad said I'm not moving again so I'll be in this apartment til I graduate!
