Flowers

Ok so this is not set in stone yet, but I have some ideas of what I want for flowers so I want to show you all!

First off, if you hadn't noticed yet, (which, unless you actually know me, you probably haven't) my style is what I call off-beat traditional.  I do love tradition, but have to twist it a little to make it my own. A great example of this: my wedding ring! Now, when I first got engaged, I posted a picture of just my engagement band, but you'd have to see the whole thing (engagement & wedding band) to understand so here it is:

Taken when I first picked the ring :)

See, very traditional 3 stone ring, but the stones are diagonal (off-beat). Side note: I LOVE MY RING SOOO MUCH!!!! & cannot wait until I get to wear both bands!!! :)

Back to the point: flowers.  Now, I haven't even talked to any florists yet, but browsing the interwebs I have gotten some ideas for what I want my flowers to look like (and what I don't want: read: any roses)

First: my flowers! This is probably where I am spending the most money because the flowers that I want are a bit expensive, but so worth it:

I'm super in love with the idea of lilies and they are just beautiful! (Plus they have great symbolism!)

Also, I want our altar flowers to look like this:

(not the best picture, but those are lilies in the front, this was taken at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano)

Ryan could even have a lily boutonniere:

It's so awesome!!! Even Ryan likes this! When I first told him I wanted it to be a lily he was like "that's a big flower..." but he saw this and was like "that's pretty awesome!" I'm so happy we are agreeing on these things!!! :)

Now, onto bridesmaids bouquets! Since, I am going to spend so much on my bouquet, I wanted to save a bit on bridesmaids (but still make them look beautiful).  So I came up with an idea: well, it's not fully developed yet, but it's definitely taking shape! (Note on this one: I would LOVE your input here, my mom does not agree with my choices here & want to know what you guys think).  Basically, I want the bridemaids to carry a one flower (or similar flowers) bouquet. (but not roses.... no roses....) Not like a: look we are carrying flowers bouquet, but a lace like bouquet (confused yet?) Here are some pictures to demonstrate:

Now, I know these are all normally used as "fillers" between other flowers, which is just a bit too old school for me for a wedding, but I think they look so pretty on their own like this. (The groomsmen's boutonnieres would be made of the same flowers as the bridesmaids bouquets)

So, what do you think? Am I crazy for wanting something so different? Am I onto a new trend here? What would you suggest I do? Please help me!!!

  1. Maddie, I like the baby's breath bouquet for your bridesmaids! I was at a wedding recently and the flower budget was small and the bride also wanted something a little different - so she had her bridesmaids wear wrist corsages instead of carry bouquets. Not that I think you should change you idea, but incase you had not thought that way - It was a great success for her. I really do like your idea though!
