Sampling the Cake

A while back, I posted about cake ideas I had and hinted that we would be tasting a cake soon! Well, we did have our tasting (a very different experience than other people have told me about), and I'm kinda excited to share about it!

Our cake baker (fabulous fare) is a very realistic & down to earth woman! Things that are included:

- My cake (we are also getting Ryan's here, but obviously have to pay for it as well)
- All delivery, set up, & other fees
- The tasting (to be discussed below)
- A remake of the top layer of our cake for our 1st anniversary (so we get to eat fresh cake, not frozen!!!)

All-in-all, I am so excited (and the price is the best in town!)

So, the tasting, the owner works out of her home & doesn't really want a ton of strangers trampling through her house (all meetings are held elsewhere as well).  In addition, she wasn't a baker when she got married and she had the same experience as most people: sitting in the baker's office while they stare at you as you are tasting.

Well, they don't want you to have to go through that! Instead, they drop off your cake, filling, and icing samples (all separated) and let you taste them on your own! (Ryan & I had a great time sharing our opinions, making combinations, & deciding our cake flavors!!!)

I didn't take pictures when we first got the samples (dumb!), but after we finished, we had a TON left over (she gave us HUGE sample cakes) so we packed them us to take home to our parents.

 Icings & Fillings

Tower of Cake & Ryan being SUPER CREEPY

I also made Ryan eat the crumbs off the tray so I could show you some pictures (I had remembered my camera at this point)

I won't tell you the flavors just because I think some things should stay a secret. :)
